This beautiful vibrant rose by Leicestershire Artist Lois Pedley is an exquisite example of Lois’ ability to capture the delicate and beautiful shapes of her favourite flower. Roses will never bore me. They are like people in a way, each one different to the next, each one has its own uniqueness, all of them are beautiful. But, it’s more than that. Roses are forever the flower I gravitate towards, they hold me in their presence, I almost feel unworthy of seeing such beauty, lucky to have seen these moments, their full potential, but not really sure what I ever did to deserve to witness it. I feel I need to paint them to show my respect, to show my admiration of something so delicate holding all this power in such a complex and inviting form. They are to me, something of a higher power, something to pay homage to.
‘Initial Beauty’ is part of an ongoing collection of drawings and paintings Lois uses to celebrate the fleeting moments of roses in bloom and immortalise them as an Art form.
