THE STARTING LINE
In the beginning I always wonder what will happen. I start with an image in my head, a dream of which I wish to create. And, so it begins, the evolution of my minds eye onto canvas. Telling a story through each and every brushstroke. Emulating every emotion I'm feeling through the music I'm listening to whilst I work. Sometimes melancholic, it can be a daunting experience to start, to make a mark on a blank canvas. To be brave enough to start. Mostly I'm able to transfer my vision how I want to but on occasion the end result is not what I had planned. Sometimes the composition just doesn't work. Sometimes the hues of the colours I've dreamed just don't blend the way I want them to. The perspective can also get off balance and leave me in a spin agonising as to whether I'm managing to create any depth at all. But it's all a process. It all has to start somewhere. There needs to be a start. Thinking about the starting line it may conjure up many images in your mind, the starting line of a race, the starting line of a song, there is even a band with that name you may have heard of. But for me it's the first line that transforms an empty space to something beautiful. It's the start of a journey. One that won't ever be finished if you don't start. You need to make that starting line and see where life takes you.
