MUSIC AND ME

MUSIC AND ME

It's a love affair that started before I picked up my first pencil. Growing up, our house was always full of music. My Dad is a massive music fan, so it was only natural that we'd grow up with something on in the background. He introduced me to some of the greats, and I still to this day listen to songs he played for us in our early years.

Music is a huge part of my creative process. I struggle to draw or paint without it. I like to be on my own with the lyrics, let them wash away everything that distracts me, and they push something out of me that just isn't there without them. If you ever see me drawing and can't hear music, ask me what song I'm singing in my head!

I have eclectic taste in music, just like the styles of my art, they change from day to day, even hour to hour. I have my go-to's and my ride or die favourites. I don't listen to anything that doesn't mean something to me, bring something out of me, or make me want to dance (only when I'm alone 🤣).

I'm shuffling my whole favourites album today. Usually, I would pick a playlist I've curated, but today, I reached for all of them.

This painting I've been working on since 2021* is giving me all sorts of problem areas to deal with, but with the music playing, it'll all work itself out.

Have a great day, and let me know your favourite song!

*I had a 2 year break from this piece, like so many others, due to lack of time to finish it with other work going on
